Terms and Conditions


Please read the following terms and conditions before you make a booking.

This is a legally binding agreement between you and M J B Adventures Limited trading as “Cycle Ventures” (“we”, “us” or “the company”). By paying your invoice and placing a booking with us, you agree to these terms and conditions which are legally binding.

1. How to make a booking
To reserve your place on a Cycle Ventures fully supported & express tours you must submit by email or phone a request for your tour/services date. We will confirm that space is available and request a non-refundable deposit of $450 per person to secure your booking. Once payment has been received your place is reserved.
2. Payment
Prices quoted on our website are in New Zealand dollars. You can make a payment by money order or bank deposit. A 2.5% surcharge is made for credit card payments.  If you are paying by credit card, we will email you an invoice for the amounts due. Follow the details to make a payment. A receipt can be printed once the payment is made.  The balance of the tour/service price is payable 60 days before departure and must be made in NZ dollars.  If making a direct overseas payment into our account, you must cover any fees related to this payment at your end.   Any other payment arrangements must be agreed upon through email and confirmation given by MJB Adventures Ltd T/A Cycle Ventures.

3. Quotes

Quotes are valid for 7 days from the date of the email.

4. Travel Insurance
We recommend full travel insurance that covers accidents, illness, and travel cancellation for all our tours to protect you against the unexpected.

5. Cancellations/refunds/transfers
If you wish to cancel your tour, please write to Cycle Ventures.  The date of cancellation will be the date we receive your written cancellation and will be subject to:

•If cancellation occurs outside 30 days of the departure date you will forfeit your full deposit.

•If cancellation occurs between 60-30 days before departure you will forfeit 50% of the tour price.
•If cancellation occurs within 30 days of departure you will forfeit 100% of the tour price.
•If you do not show up for the tour regardless of the reason you will forfeit 100% of the tour price.

If one person cancels, out of a couple (who were sharing a double room), or a pair (sharing a twin room) the remaining person must pay a single room supplement (listed on the relevant tour page for that date). The single room supplement will be deducted from any refund payable to the person canceling.

Transfer of tours/dates.
It may be possible in some circumstances to transfer your tours.  If you need to do this, you must inform Cycle Ventures in writing as to your requested dates/tour changes.  The following terms will apply:
•If your notice is received more than 30 days before your original departure a $200 transfer fee will apply.
•If your notice is received between 30-15 days of your departure date, 20% of your booked tour price will be forfeited and the remainder transferred to the departure date nominated by you.
•If your notice is received within 14 days of your departure date you will be unable to transfer and must forfeit the booking and rebook to another tour.
•You can only transfer onto another tour departing within 8 months of your original tour.

Terms and Conditions after 12th April 2020. Covid – 19 cancellations:

In the event of travel being restricted due to Covid-19 a full refund of deposits will be made to the customer or a fee transfer to another future date can be made.  Regardless, open discussion shall take place to ensure both Cycle Ventures and its clients are informed of choices that can be made. At no point does Cycle Ventures want to withhold money from a client.

6. Tour and services pricing
MJB Adventures Ltd T/A Cycle Ventures advertises the prices of the tours based on current costs, rates, and assumptions made at the time of advertising. Cycle Ventures will do its utmost not to increase its prices but at times out of its control, this, however, could take place.  MJB Adventures Ltd T/A Cycle Ventures reserves the right to amend its prices up to 30 days before the departure date of its tours. Cycle Ventures will inform you of this in writing via email.
The availability of accommodation in the region can be low, especially in holiday times.  MJB Adventures Ltd T/A Cycle Ventures reserves the right to change the advertised accommodation of a tour if the proposed venue is not available.  You will be informed of any changes before you depart on your tour.

7. Minimum tour numbers
MJB Adventures Ltd T/A Cycle Ventures reserves the right to cancel any tour before departure if there are too few people to run the tour.  At the time of booking, if you are the first to book, you will be informed of this point of the terms and conditions. Tours with 6 or more clients will run as advertised.  Tours with 4 or less will be subject to a surcharge to run.   The A2O Full Tour will be subject to a $450 p/p surcharge if 4 people are on the tour and $550 if 3 people are on the tour.  If you wish to change or cancel your booking, please call us to discuss this directly.  If there are only 2 people on the tour, we will discuss options with you.  An option would be given to transfer onto another tour date without any additional costs.  A full refund of payments made to Cycle Ventures will be given if another tour date is not chosen.  You can also convert your tour into a semi-guided version.  The final payment will vary depending on your choice of support after we have discussed this with you. You will not be able to make any additional claims for loss of time or inconvenience that may result from the cancellation.

8. Tour Itinerary
MJB Adventures Ltd T/A Cycle Ventures reserves the right to:
Change tour departure times, routes, and accommodations anytime to ensure client safety and satisfaction.
Postpone, cancel, or delay any aspect of the tour if it is necessary due to poor weather, snow, or icy conditions or conditions that are considered to be too hazardous and threaten the safety of the participants and guides.

9. Health and fitness
To fully enjoy and make the most of your tour, we advise you to prepare yourself for the activities you will experience on your tour. If you are booking a bike tour you are capable of cycling for some time on undulation terrain. If you are booking a tour for many days you can sustain this exercise for many days.
If you have a medical, physical, or mental condition you must disclose this upon booking. If after booking you begin to suffer from a condition you must inform us at least 14 days before departure.
A client details form and a medical and health declaration form will be sent to you at the time of booking for you to complete and return with your final payment.

10. Other transport providers.
Cycle Ventures conditions are not given on behalf of other transport services we may use in our tours. Should a transport provider amend, cancel, or delay a service this will not be considered a cancellation by Cycle Ventures and is subject to the conditions of the carrying airline or other transport entity.

11. Force Majeure
If Cycle Ventures is prevented (directly or indirectly) from performing any of its obligations under this agreement by reason of God, strikes, trade disputes, fire, breakdowns, interruption of transport, government or political action, acts of terrorism, acts or omissions of a third party or any other cause what so ever outside MJB Adventures Ltd T/A Cycle Ventures reasonable control, MJB Adventures Ltd T/A Cycle Ventures will be under no liability to you and may, at its option, by written notice, either cancel the tour or arrange alternative tour arrangements.

12. Risk assumption and safety declaration
You acknowledge that:
The nature of adventure tours can be more challenging and demanding with the exposure to a different and greater degree of risk compared to conventional holidays and involves exposure to injury and possibly death.
MJB Adventures Ltd T/A Cycle Ventures employs third-party services that provide food, accommodation, transport, and other services.  Any shortcoming of that third party’s performance is against the third party and not against MJB Adventures Ltd T/A Cycle Ventures.
We reserve the right to withdraw any person who in our opinion is likely to endanger themselves or others.  We also reserve the right to cancel any activity if we become concerned for any reason, you’re your safety, or that of any person.
You must follow our instructions, use any safety equipment provided at all times and accept the inherent and increased dangers and risks associated with your proposed tour and the accompanying risk of injury, death, or property damage or loss.

13. Liability Waiver
In consideration of MJB Adventures Ltd T/A Cycle Ventures accepting your booking and in consideration of you being permitted by MJB Adventures Ltd T/A Cycle Ventures to join the tour to the extent permitted by law, you:
Release, waive, discharge, hold harmless and agree to indemnify MJB Adventures Ltd T/A Cycle Ventures and its officers, employees, agents, licensees, guides and other representatives and the land management authorities in New Zealand from all claims, actions or losses for bodily injury, property damage, wrongful death, loss of service, loss profits, consequential, exemplary, indirect or punitive damages or otherwise which may arise out of or occur during your travel in connection with the tour or any activities conducted in conjunction there within unless caused by the wilful negligence or wrongful act of MJB Adventures Ltd T/A Cycle Ventures and its employees: and regardless of the situation of circumstances giving rise to the claim you waive any claims you have, or may at any time have, against MJB Adventures Ltd T/A Cycle Ventures and its employees and you agree, by accepting the additional inherent dangers and risks associated with the tour, not to make any claim against or seek any compensation from MJB Adventures Ltd T/A Cycle Ventures and its employees in respect of any personal injury, illness or death suffered by you or damage to or loss of property sustained by you as a result of your participation in the tour.
To the extent permitted by law, all the liabilities for damage to your property, disruption to travel plans, or mental injury are excluded.  This is subject to any rights you may have under the Consumer Guarantee Act 1993 if booking in NZ.  If sections of the Act do apply MJB Adventures Ltd T/A Cycle Ventures liability is limited to resupplying the services or paying the costs of resupplying the services, whichever is lesser.
WARNING: Under New Zealand law it is extremely unlikely that you will be able to sue anyone if you are injured and /or suffer disruption in your travel arrangements.  MJB Adventures Ltd T/A Cycle Ventures holds a current public liability insurance policy covering all tours advertised by MJB Adventures Ltd.

14. Jurisdiction
You’re booking and all operations undertaken by MJB Adventures Ltd T/A Cycle Ventures are governed by the laws of New Zealand.

15. Privacy
The information supplied by you on the booking form will only be used by MJB Adventures Ltd T/A Cycle Ventures. However, in the unlikely event of an accident, any special medical or personal information may be supplied to medical or emergency services personnel.

Your contact email/information will be used only for our purposes to send you information on your booked products and for future newsletters we may send.  You will be able to cancel the newsletters if you wish by contacting us or doing so within the newsletter ‘unsubscribe’ button.

A. Cycle Ventures will make every effort to provide you with the type of bike you would like (i.e. E-Bike, Mountain Bike, Child’s bike) however, for reasons beyond our control we may need to provide you with alternative options.

B. Where personal bikes are being used for your Cycle Ventures, we will take all reasonable care to          protect that bike in transit but will not accept any responsibility for damage as a result of that            transport.

C. If you have hired a bike from us it is your responsibility to return the bike to us in the same condition it was at the beginning of the hire. We accept there will be general wear and tear, however excessive        damage will be at your cost.

D. There may be a relocation cost for the transport of a bike between points or depots. e.g. where a

mountain bike is replaced with an e-bike

E. Deposits are none refundable for bike hire & shuttle services
