Bike Hire

We have been providing bike hire in Oamaru for over 10 years and our fleet has grown especially with the growth of the Alps 2 Ocean. We provide a bike that suits the NZ conditions you will encounter on the Alps 2 Ocean. Our standard bikes are the 2020 Norco Storm mountain bike. In our experience on the A2O, these bikes outperformed other styles of bikes across the variations of trail surface. The bikes have 18 gears and hydraulic brakes to help you control any situation you may come across. If there is a person in your group who would like some assistance we also have e-bikes for hire. These use the well proven Bosche and Shimano mid-motor system. Once riding you just peddle and the motor helps you too! Our bike shop in Oamaru service the bikes every time they are used to ensure your machine is in tip-top condition. Our bikes come with a rear carrier and trunk bag to help you carry enough gear for your days riding. If you want to carry more ask for our trunk and pannier rear bag that will carry about 26 litres of gear. We also have full-sized waterproof panniers for hire. The bikes are also equipped with a water bottle holder and a rider's helmet.

Additional information

Our Bike hire is on a ‘You bend it you mend it’ policy.  Should you damage the bike we will repair it in our workshop charging you trade rates for parts and then the mechanic hours on that.  In the event of the bike being stolen while in your care you will also be charged the price for replacing it.

The bikes should be returned in a relatively clean condition.  The weather and trail surface normally does not mean that the bikes will be covered thick in mud, but if they are returned in such state you may be charged for the time to clean them.  For more information please read our terms and condition pages.
